The Education Working Group of Mayo County Development Board and Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Company is organising an exhibition in The Newman Institute, Ballina, on Thursday, 5th September, to highlight the wide range of training and educational opportunities available to unemployed people.
There will be a “Supports for Unemployed” section and this separate initiative will be hosted by Mayo North East.
This expo will also concentrate on Supports for the Self-Employed providing information on Business Start-ups and Enterprise Advice.
A number of free workshops will be run at the Expo including:
“Returning to Learning” 10.45am -11.30am. Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board. Career Guidance / Financial Support/ Courses & Training available for Adult Learners
“Landing that Job” 12.15pm –1.15pm – Mayo Job Club
Presentation of CV’s & Interview Skills for Job Seekers
“Enterprise Supports for Self Employment” 10.30am – 11 am
An overview of the support provided by Mayo County Enterprise Board, Enterprise Ireland, WESTBIC and other agencies.
“Starting a Small Business” 11.15am – 12 noon
Steps to setting up a small business, legal structures, registration with Revenue/CRO, business plan elements, the support provided by Mayo North East LEADER Partnership Co.
The exhibition will provide an opportunity for adults to access information regarding the wide range of education, training and employment options and supports that are available to them in the county and surrounding regions.
Information on both accredited and non-accredited courses will be available ranging from part-time to full-time and evening/weekend /online courses.
Courses and training
Speaking at the launch of the Ballina Expo Niamh Charlton, from Mayo North East said: “Mayo North East has identified that access to relevant information on supports for job seekers and job opportunities is one of the major issues for Jobseekers so this Expo in Ballina aims to provide information from a range of agencies in one location.”
Third level colleges, PLC course providers, training centres, community groups and others involved in delivering education and training, including community, adult and post-leaving certificate courses in County Mayo will exhibit at this event.
Job seeking skills training will be available on the day as well as an opportunity to book an appointment to have your C.V. written with Mayo Job Club.
Bluebird Care and RHS Home Services will be available at the Ballina Expo to give details of part-time employment currently available in Co. Mayo within the healthcare area.
Mayo North East Local and Community Development Programme also have a Mayo Jobs Alert eService where details of all jobs that are advertised for Co. Mayo and surrounding counties are available and can be sent regularly to job seekers that are registered with the service.
The Expo runs from 10 am to 2 pm and admission is free and there will be light refreshments. Everybody is welcome.
