A Mayo pharmacist has been named among the top pharmacists in Ireland at a special event in Dublin when the shortlist for the annual Helix Health Pharmacist Awards was announced.
Ian Clarke from Ballina, who works in Meagher’s Pharmacy, Castletymon Shopping Centre in Tallaght, Dublin, was shortlisted for the ‘Young Pharmacist of the Year’ Award.
The Helix Health Pharmacist Awards are aimed at raising funds for the Pharmacy Benevolent Fund and ‘celebrating excellence’ across all disciplines of the pharmacy profession.
Speaking at the shortlist announcement for the 2013 Awards, Crevan O’Malley, Sales Director with Helix Health, said: “With much of the media glare on the overworked junior doctors of late, it is lovely to be able to deliver a good news story in relation to the Irish medical profession, as we highlight the wonderful work of pharmacists in Mayo and throughout Ireland.
“Pharmacists play a vital role not only in the community, but in hospitals, universities and regulatory bodies around Ireland, and Helix Health is delighted to be able to recognise their contribution to society at this year’s Pharmacist Awards.
Ten awards will be presented in total at the 2013 Helix Health Pharmacist Awards, which will take place on Saturday, 23rd November, at the Mansion House in Dublin.
Awards presented on the night will include the new ‘Community Pharmacy Team of the Year’ award, which was introduced in recognition of the pivotal role that pharmacists play in communities in Mayo and across the country.
