Ballyglass Community Childcare, Co. Mayo, was the winner of the Best Community Crèche at the Maternity and Infant Awards 2013 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin.
The adjudicators were impressed with both the physical and learning environments at Ballyglass Community Childcare.
“Rooms are laid out in such a way that babies and children are encouraged and supported to become independent and competent learners. Children are supported by a staff team who are respectful and who get to know the children who are entrusted into their care intimately.”
Ballyglass Community Childcare Service opened in 1981 as a Playschool based in the Community Centre in Ballyglass. It was run with one member of staff and volunteer parents.
The Playschool has run successfully ever since, with the introduction of an After-School Service in 2005, and now includes Summer Camp.
The award winning purpose built facility opened in September 2009, offering a full range of services from 4 months to 12 years.
Situated at the rear of Mountpleasant National School, Ballyglass, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Ballyglass Community Childcare Centre caters for babies, toddlers, playschool, preschool and after school children.
Inspirational stories of courage and bravery were heard at the awards held in association with Gaviscon Extra.
The Awards celebrated inspiring individuals who have touched the lives of those around them, while also recognising the leading maternity products and services tested by real mums and dads.
Once again the awards were hosted by Sybil Mulcahy and Martin King from TV3 and the day was filled with drama, emotion and fun. Each year truly heartfelt nominations are received in the People Award categories, and this year was no different.
This year products across 50 categories were rigorously tested by mums and dads to choose the cream of the crop.
