Local Heart and Stroke Charity, Croí, has received the generous support of the public in Mayo, through a fundraising social dance which raised €1,500 to support work on stroke prevention and awareness in County Mayo.
The month of March was designated as Mayo Stroke Awareness Month in a joint venture between Croí, Mayo PCCC, HSE West and Mayo General Hospital.
The campaign was launched to raise awareness about stroke in Mayo, and to communicate key messages on stroke recognition and prevention.
A fundraising dance was organised recently by Séamus Gallagher, Director at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, to support the work of Croí in Mayo and to ensure that this stroke prevention initiative continues to develop annually to save lives in Mayo.
Speaking at the cheque presentation, Croí Nurse, Ailish Houlihan said: “On behalf of Croí, I would like to extend sincere thanks to Séamus and all at the McWilliam Park Hotel for their generous efforts in supporting the work of Croí in Mayo.
“During the month of March, a number of free information events were organised to raise public awareness on how to recognise stroke and what you can do to prevent stroke. We intend to develop this campaign during the years ahead so that important life-saving messages can be promoted to everyone in Mayo.”
