Elverys Sports staff and customers have raised €200,000 for the ISPCC over the last two years. This year they have committed to being one of ‘Childline’s Corporate Champions’ and to raising €25,000 for Childline’s 25 Year Anniversary.
With that figure in mind, Elverys Sports are once again entering a team to take part in the Galway Bay Half Marathon and 10K with the aim of raising the special target of €25,000.
As a further effort to achieve this fundraising goal, 60 Managers from Elverys Sports have signed up to cross the 10K finish line in under 60 minutes.
Managers from the Support Centre held a golf classic last Friday, 13th September, in Castlebar Golf Club to help reach the target.
The day was a huge success and thanks to the generosity of sponsors and attendees on the day, the event netted a sum total of €8,055.
Special guest, Peter Keane, Deputy Mayor of Galway City commended Elverys staff for their continued fundraising efforts and the ISPCC for the important work they do.
Both he and Loman Caulfield, Director of Buying at Elverys, also commended the club on the great condition of the course and also the warm welcome received. Both thanked everyone who participated and congratulated the winning teams.
All the money raised will go towards Childline services to ensure that they can continue to listen and support children all around the country.
Sadly Childline are currently unable to answer 1 in every 3 calls due to a lack of funding and just €5 will help to answer a child who may need urgent help.
The Galway Bay Half Marathon takes place on the 28th of September and if you’d like to join the fundraising efforts you can still enter the Half Marathon or 10k by visiting galwaybayhalfmarathon.com or you can donate from as little as €2 at mycharity.ie/event/elverys.
