Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport, Michael Ring TD was at the airport to celebrate the announcement.
This expansion of Flybe services is good news for the West of Ireland and is Flybe’s third new service from the airport following the continued success of their services to Manchester and Edinburgh.
Commenting on the announcement, Flybe’s Head of PR, Niall Duffy said: “Flybe is absolutely delighted to launch this new route to Birmingham, commencing October 27th. “We look forward to welcoming thousands of new passengers onto the service and are pleased to be able to step into the breach,” Mr Duffy added.
Managing Director of Ireland West Airport Knock Joe Gilmore said: “Our Birmingham service has long been one of our most established routes from the airport with over 50,000 passengers using the services each year.
“Today’s announcement highlights Flybe’s commitment to serving the people of the West & North West of Ireland, providing vital connectivity to key markets in the UK and Scotland.”
