Mayo-based National Media TV company, Irish TV, has raised over €3,000 for Mayo Cancer Support Association by designing and retailing 2014 charity calendars.
The calendars which encompassed magical rural scenery and imagery from Mayo with inspirational quotations were sold all over the county with all proceeds going to Mayo Cancer Support Association.
Speaking at the Irish TV presentation in the Wyatt Hotel, Padhraic Barrett, Manager of Services Mayo Cancer Support Association said: “This is a great boost for the Mayo Cancer Support Association. We are delighted with the money raised from these wonderful calendars. We would like to thank Irish TV and everyone who bought the calendars to support the organisation.
“All the proceeds will be used to help support people affected by cancer, their families, and friends.”
Irish TV CEO, Pierce O’Reilly was privileged to support the Mayo Cancer Support Association, which he said was a charity close to his own heart.
“Nearly every family in the country has been affected by cancer in some way. The support, care and practical help the Mayo Cancer Support Association provides to those affected is unbelievable.
“Padhraic and his team have done incredible work over the years and Irish TV are delighted to support to this wonderful charity. I am also very thankful to the people of Mayo who bought the calendars to support this worthy cause.”
The Mayo Cancer Support Association is located in Rock Rose House, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The service offers emotional support and practical help to people with cancer, their family and friends. The association also provides a “drop-in” centre where people with cancer may access for support and information.
