Achill Island hosts the finale of the Irish Kitesurfing Tour Competition at this year’s “Battle for the Lake” Music and Kite Festival on September 28th and 29th.
Considered one of the best locations in the world for kite surfing, Achill Island’s Keel Lake will be transformed into a veritable water wonderland when the best kitesurfers from around the globe compete for the coveted crown of “King/Queen of the Lake”.
“Battle for the Lake” is a free weekend of entertainment for all the family, young and old. Not alone will audiences be enthralled, entertained and captivated by the kitesurfing action, there will be plenty of activity out of the water as well.
There will be live music on the lakeshore, a Kids Zone, funfair, Food Village & BBQ and a Kids Kite Competition.
Pure Magic Kitesurfing will also give kitesurfing demonstrations on the spectacular Keel beach, as well as introductory sessions of paddle boarding and kite surfing for newcomers to these increasingly popular watersports.
And the action doesn’t stop on Achill Island when the sun goes down.
For the first year in its 4 year history, the 2013 “Battle for the Lake” will feature a unique and exciting 2-night Music Festival, welcoming performers from all over Ireland and beyond.
Fifteen Bands will take to the stage over both nights at the Festival HQ, PureMagic Achill, bringing community, competitors, and spectators together for a unique musical experience.
