Over 50 of Mayo’s young unemployed have participated in a one-day preparation for aptitude test workshop to prepare for the reopening of recruitment for An Garda Siochána.
South West Mayo Development Company in conjunction with the Achill Local Employment Service and supported by the Local and Community Development Programme planned and coordinated the training workshop on Wednesday, 16th October, in Mulranny Park Hotel.
The workshop was delivered by professionals from Career Services Ltd, an Irish education company, since 1987, who are specialists in helping students into competitive careers such as An Garda Síochána, Defence Force Cadets, Prison Officers, Fire Services, and ESB apprenticeships.
Guest Speaker at the workshop was Garda Nicholas Freyne, a young Mayo Garda, currently stationed in Castlebar. Garda Freyne gave the workshop participants an insight into his own Garda recruitment experience and his first years in the Garda Siochana.
South West Mayo Development Company through the delivery of the Local and community development programme works in an innovative and creative way to best prepare the young unemployed in the area for employment.
