A clearly ebullient Minister Michael Ring launched Greenway Gifts in Doherty’s Pub, Mulranny on Midsummer’s Day, Friday 21st June.
The tourism Minister expressed his delight at seeing a new business spring up on the back of one of the county’s most successful tourism ventures in recent years – the Great Western Greenway.
Greenway Gifts is the only branded range of souvenirs directly connected with the Greenway.
Speaking directly to Angela Burke (Grealis) founder of Greenway Gifts, Minister Ring said: “We admire you for your courage, commitment and will to set up a new and innovative business.
“It is people like yourself who will get this country out of this recession. ” He continued, “You saw a gap in the market and had the courage of your convictions to take the plunge and set up Greenway Gifts. I wish you all success with your new venture.”
Cllr. Michael McNamara was equally enthusiastic about Greenway Gifts, saying, “It is wonderful to see how Angela has drawn together the community by using Mayo based gifts and skills. I welcome this project and look forward to seeing it grow.”
Angela Burke said: “I see Greenway Gifts as a tribute to all the talented and creative people in Mayo who are supplying gifts to us. I look forward to every tourist and every user of the Greenway leaving it with a “bronntanais as Contae Mhaigh Eo” to remember us with.”
Greenway Gifts is a custom designed range of small branded gifts which will appeal to tourists visiting the area who want to bring home a small memento of the Great Western Greenway cycling and walking trail.
The range of products is available in retail outlets in towns throughout Mayo including Ireland West Airport, Knock. Most gifts are made in Mayo including the candles by Western Care in Castlebar. Keep an eye out for the well designed and beautifully branded display cases – also made in Mayo of course.
The fledgling enterprise was the brainchild of Angela Burke, originally from Mulranny but now living in Partry. Her handpicked range of attractive, easily transported gifts includes branded sports water bottles, candles, jam miniatures, fridge magnets, T-shirts, key rings and much more besides.
The full range can also be seen and purchased through Greenway Gifts website. Retailers are invited to contact Angela if they are interested in stocking the Greenway Gifts range.
This project is part funded by South West Mayo Development Company.
