Mulranny has embarked on a new era of community activity with the handing over of the former Garda Barracks in the Mayo seaside village to the Mulranny Amenity Centre Group.
The formal handing over the keys to the disused Garda Station was carried out by Brian Hayes, TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for the Office of Public Works (OPW). The Minister was accompanied by Minister of State Michael Ring TD.
The Mulranny Amenity Centre group accepted the keys on behalf of the community and will use the premises as a centre for active local groups, specifically in the area of environmental research and management.
The Mulranny group’s aims also include improving road safety, promoting tourism, increasing activities for young people, and the general community, and other projects which will be of great benefit to the local residents.
