Culture Night 2013 in County Mayo will take place on September 20th with over 30 venues and events taking place throughout the county.
Cultural organisations and groups are busily preparing varied programmes of activity for the evening.
Regardless of where you are in the county, there will be a Culture Night event taking place nearby with events this year planned for Achill, Ballina, Ballinrobe, Ballintubber, Ballycastle, Ballycroy, Belmullet, Ceathrú Thaidhg, Castlebar, Claremorris, Charlestown, Foxford,
Laherdane, Newport, Tuar Mhic Éadaigh, Turlough, and Westport.
Planned activities include family workshops, films, exhibitions, performances, craft displays, music seisiúns and much, much more! With free events taking place throughout the county and catering for all ages, there is bound to be something for everyone!
The ethos of the national event is access to free cultural events for all, and participating venues nationwide will extend opening hours, organise events which are free of charge and open to the public.
The evening provides an opportunity for audiences, cultural organisations and groups alike to showcase and experience local culture.
Imagination and creativity are abundantly apparent in the excellent programmes that have made past Culture Nights extremely successful and 2013 will not disappoint.
The event provides cultural organisations with an occasion to showcase to local communities and visitors, the wealth and variety of cultural activity that exists in Mayo, while also celebrating the county’s excellent cultural reputation on a national platform.
Mayo County Council Arts Office will be working in partnership with the local venues, Templebar Cultural Trust and the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to bring the Culture Night initiative to Mayo.
More details on Mayo Culture Night will be available over the coming weeks and a programme of events will be available from the Arts Office early in August.
